The Soldering On Awards recognise individuals, groups, communities, and charities who serve Armed Forces personnel
On Wednesday 16th October, 2024, our remarkable Founder and former Chief Executive, Brendan Williams, won the Business Community Impact Award at the prestigious Soldering on Awards.
The spectacular award ceremony took place at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel, where individuals, charities, organisations and groups came together to celebrate those who dedicate their time to supporting armed forces personnel. Now in it's 14th year, the Soldering on Awards encourages those to share their stories about what they are doing in the community to help military members, veterans, and family members.
We are thrilled that Brendan was recognised amongst one of these individuals. Although Brendan doesn't come from a military background, he understands the nature of the Armed Forces community and the demands of the construction industry that has many synergies with military personnel. Brendan was born into a long line of specialist master bricklayers, and he recognised the transferable skills that military personnel can utilise in the construction industry. He draws upon all his cross-disciplinary experience and brings a wealth of knowledge to the charity that has helped shaped the charity’s programmes, ensuring a focused and impactful approach to meet the identified needs of all communities involved.
Nicola Schneider, Deputy Chief Executive, comments: "This award is a testament to Brendan’s hard work and dedication, which he has shown since day one of launching Building Heroes. He has set such a high standard in both leadership and community engagement that he inspires those around him."
Christopher Charles, Chief Executive, comments: "Brendan is an inspiration to us all. He has helped shape this charity into becoming a multi-award-winning organisation and has led us to celebrate ten years, which is a significant milestone. It was an honour to fill his shoes as Chief Executive and carry on the legacy that he started. Congratulations, Brendan!”.
This award comes just weeks after Building Heroes won the Corporate Partnership of the Year - Medium category at the Third Sector Awards. Across both awards, we wish all the finalists and winners congratulations.
