We have been shortlisted in the Education and Training category in The Charity Awards, 2024

We are experiencing a successful year as we mark our 10th anniversary!

As we mark our 10th anniversary in 2024, we are experiencing a successful year of growth and award recognition. Recently, we were honoured as finalists in the Training Excellence category at the Construction News Awards and now we are delighted to share we have again been chosen as finalists in the Education and Training category in The Charity Awards, 2024.

The Charity Awards recognise and award innovative charities that drive best practices and deliver solutions to communities and businesses. The Education and Training category identifies and awards charities that provide outcomes for local communities while harnessing innovative techniques and offering sustainable solutions. Therefore, Building Heroes wanted to highlight how they collaborate with education and industry to provide funded training and wraparound support to empower the armed forces community for successful careers in the construction industry.

Brendan Williams, Chief Executive, said: “In 2014, we recognised that there were over 120,000 unemployed veterans of working age across England and Wales, juxtaposed against a shortage of 250,000 skilled workers in the construction sector. The Building Heroes Education Foundation emerged to stand between those two numbers and shift the difference; not only to address the skills gap but to prevent veteran unemployment and provide pathways to successful civilian construction careers.”

The prestigious gala dinner and awards presentation will be held at The Royal Lancaster in London on Tuesday, July 9th. Four representatives from Building Heroes will attend to celebrate and network with other finalists.

We look forward to meeting with industry leaders to collectively applaud and support the outstanding achievements of the charity sector. We also want to thank The Charity Awards for this recognition, which highlights our unique training and employment support approach, enabling a quick and efficient transition to the civilian workforce.
