Across our network of Vistry sponsored Skills Academies, our learners take part in Vistry Days during every cohort, ensuring that each new group benefits from consistent, high quality engagement with industry and real world construction environments.
Led by the Social Value team at Vistry Group, these days bring together operational teams, members of the Armed Forces network, and supply chain partners including Speedy and Jewsons, to deliver meaningful, learner focused insight into careers within housebuilding and the wider construction industry.

Vistry Days are designed to place learners at the centre of the experience. Through presentations, discussion, and direct engagement with industry professionals, participants gain a clear understanding of how housing developments are delivered and the wide range of career pathways available.
Hearing from colleagues who have successfully transitioned from military service is particularly powerful, offering reassurance, inspiration, and practical advice as learners plan their own next steps.
A key feature of each Vistry Day is the opportunity for learners to explore live construction sites where their academies are embedded. Guided by project leadership teams, learners see first hand how developments progress from early stages through to completion.
Site visits often take place in challenging weather, hot and cold, but most recently in the cold and damp. This gives learners a realistic insight into life on site and reinforces the professionalism, resilience, and teamwork required within the industry. And despite the elements, learners consistently approach these days with enthusiasm and curiosity, making the most of every opportunity to learn.
At Building Heroes, our mission is to support members of the Armed Forces community into sustainable civilian careers. By embedding Vistry Days into every cohort programme at a Vistry Skills Academy, we ensure that all learners benefit from strong employer engagement, practical insight, and meaningful connections with industry.
